Lesson #1 Grounding and Centering Psychic and Paranormal Abilities
63
Grounding-a term often heard in the worlds of people with ability.
This portion of the mysterious you is all about understanding yourself in a self enlightening format. When you become aware of the invisible personalities that have always surrounded you it can be easy to loose yourself. To prevent being absorbed by the more powerful identities you must know who you are or give yourself a way to hang on to how you perceive yourself to be.
When dealing with the unseen the visualization technique is a tool you can use in the early stages of learning. Visualization helps provide an anchor for your mind. A common visual aid in Grounding is imagining yourself as a tree. You imagine your feet sinking into the ground to become roots and your mind flows up into the branches of the tree. The flows of energy around you can rage like the strongest storm, but you are rooted to the ground.
Centering and How I View it as Different From Grounding
Some people could say that Grounding and Centering are interchangeable words, but I will say that the difference is in technique and purpose.
One uses Grounding for stabilization on an outside source in a constant flow of energy. Using the tree example one roots them-self to the ground to draw nutrients and water up through the truck to the branches and leaves where the oxygen is released and sunlight taken in. It is a constant cycle that is part of a larger world.
Centering is more for the self. Chakras are an aid often used for Centering as the focus is opening your energy points and consolidating your inner self. This technique is more confined to the bounds of your body where as Grounding lets you explore yourself in a world context.
Things to Keep in Mind
Visualization is a technique, but one I found is easy to rely on. The problem with Visualization is that it limits the mind and senses. Think in terms of a man who has always been blind. He know the world by his remaining senses, if he were to suddenly be able to see everything he understands would change. The world would be a very strange place for him, because sight was something he could never comprehend before.
What I mean to say is that while Visualization aids it is not how the extrasensory world is actually perceived as it is invisible to the eye. Be wary of this fact so that true understanding is possible.
